I am really worried about this as the true test of civilized society is how it treats is most vulnerable members e.g the elderly and the young! I think we have fall badly here! we are looking up children and not giving the support to help them change their lives! I wonder if prison education get much funding or maybe it been cut! Great!

    Hi,

Have you got a message for the Prime Minister about the riots?

The British Youth Council, UK Youth Parliament and Young Mayors Network want young people themselves to have a say on the riots. They're currently compiling a report to take to UK Government and are asking young people to have their say.

To complete a short survey that will help form the report follow this link:

The cuts are rolling out from September and so it is unreasonable to justify any of the violence and destruction with the cuts, despite many of the rioters interviewed citing that as their reason for doing so. The force of the monetary changes is yet to be felt and there is a much deeper cause at play here - Youth unemployment teamed with a melting pot of the diminishing social conscience finally... Read more

Hello Everyone,

I help out at youth clubs and and vollunteer with the NVYA. There is one issue that I still see happening in day to day life and thats BULLYING! I don't feel that there is enough support in place for victims who are bullied. I think there is more that can be done - I would like to set up a campaign to beat bullying once and for all. It took me a while to decide on a name for this... Read more

...to clarify my point..the notion of 'stamping it out' sounds as though it falls in-line with previously used disciplinary measures. As an alternative I recommend taking a look at Community Model in Corrections: http://www.youtube.com/user/CommunityModel
Or watch season four of The Wire. They introduce a learning and development scheme for school bullies, or lets say, kids capable of murder. Yes... Read more

i dont think u can beat bullying but there are ways of helping i have been a victim of bullying for many reasons and it has had a great effect on my confidence and self esteem my mum has always told me people bully because they feel insicure about themselves but in my eyes this makes no sense because i have been bullied i am insicure but i dont go out and bully.

As well as helping victims, bullies should be helped to see why what they do is wrong and try to help with the underlying causes. A lot of schools teach that bullying is wrong but when bullying happens they don't try to find out why it happened. Bullies do tend to feel insecure and need to feel in charge, so maybe helping with self-esteem for both bullies and victims?
