Is Big Society's Big Mouth back yet?!?! We all have lots to say!

Hello again,

We have also heard about the Notorious traveller site "Dale Farm" I think when we speak about big society and people sticking together for the common good this stands out, we have seen a community be told they will be evicted, they have residents that are ill and have nowhere but this place, the people who live there send kids to local schools and are settled.

The council (Tory... Read more

Hey!! how are you ? ohh it's been too long.

Today I read a rather chilling article about children as young as eaight (8) being involved in a UFC Fight club fighting, Now it is a sport and it is legal so there is room for this ? Well when you think of the development of children and young people having punches to vital parts of the body could damage development no ? For example iif you took a punch... Read more

Hi All

Hope you're all well.

Been a while since I posted.

Just wanted to let you all know we're still fighting hard for young people. We've been speaking to the local council, our MPs and have even manage to speak to Nick Hurd under our local MPs behalf. We're moving forward in every way possible.

We are in a very strong position at the moment. As you're well aware, the riots saw young... Read more

I have noticed as rise in prejudice against chavs and also against so called Toff's and posh people.
The Oxford dictionary defines Chav as a young lower-class person typified by brash and loutish behaviour and the wearing of (real or imitation) designer clothes.

What really worries me about this issue is that our public figures are also engaging in this attitude and prejudice which means that everyone... Read more

I can understand where your coming from even though I don't agree with it but I don't understand the conclusion you came to "so much to equal opportunities and access for all!". How do you feel that this point is justified with your evidence?

well I am basically saying with this prejudice going on it makes a mockery of equal opportunities and access for all as people will be put off applying to do this because of how they perceived and treated by others.

"Chav" isn't always used to define a class of people, the people that tend to be called chavvy are people who choose to dress and act the way they do. Out of experience, I know that chavs can be higher class people who simply choose to act as they do. The way they act and choose to disrespect others is why they get a bad name. It's easy for them to change.

Being inspired by Onyere's blog I decided to write my own about the 21st Century Activist event organised by the Big Society's Big Mouth and the Parliamentary Outreach on the 23rd May.

So, it was a really early start for me that morning, having to wake up at around 4.30am (although I must admit I snoozed my alarm at least 3 times and got up at 5.00) to catch a train at 6.30am from Newcastle to... Read more

Haha, good idea! I'm sure he'd be able to survive with small donations from his poor friends, bankers. He encourages volunteering, so he might as well set the example!

If Cameron really cares about the big society and volunteering he should be there now setting an example but his not.

If I worked as his PA that would be the first thing I make him do.

The Government has unveiled new Big Society plans to make it easier and more attractive to give time and money to good causes. Apparently people giving time/money has flat-lined, so the Cabinet Office has published the “Giving White Paper” to kick start our “culture of philanthropy”. It looks at how they can work with charities and businesses to support new ways for us to fit our contributions... Read more

I think it's already been mentioned somewhere on BSBM but the Government is enshrining into law that 0.7% of our GDP must go towards international aid. With many public services being slashed and council budgets being squeezed, is this right or should we be spending money at closer to home?
Personally, I think it's not only a moral duty but a fundamental right to give a percentage of our national... Read more
